CECC thanks everyone for standing with them over this 1,194-day journey, welcomes post-pandemic life
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that as COVID-19 will be reclassified from a Category 5 notifiable communicable disease to a Category 4 notifiable communicable disease, the CECC will also be dissolved, with epidemic prevention measures becoming normalized. To thank partners and friends from the media who assisted with the operation of CECC press conferences, the CECC held its final press conference today, and many officials attended it to look back and embrace the future. Those in attendance included CECC Commander Wang Pi-sheng, former Commander Chen Shih-chung, Executive Yuan chief pandemic advisor Chang Shan-chwen, ACIP convener Lee Ping-ing, VICP review panel convener Chiu Nan-chang, and Minister of Health and Welfare Hsueh Jui-yuan, and other distinguished guests.
Commander Wang pointed out that since the CECC began its operation, nearly 1,000 press conferences have been held. Wang expressed gratitude to epidemic prevention teams who worked day and night, friends from the media, and the general public for working together to overcome this global pandemic. Wang then emphasized that the government has made relevant preparations to respond to future changes in the COVID-19 situation. Former Commander Chen Shih-chung also mentioned that the CECC is one of the few units globally that was able to provide epidemic prevention information to the public through press conferences for a long time. Chen continued that, thanks to the assistance of all the people on screen and behind the scenes, CECC’s operations were smooth and successful, and he is grateful for that.
The CECC also issued certificates of appreciation to sign language interpreters, real-time subtitle teams, the Taiwan SNG News Production Association, live streaming teams, and media outlets frequently in attendance. These certificates were given to thank those who went the extra mile to safeguard the health of citizens.
The CECC explained that as epidemic prevention have become normalized, information related to COVID-19 will be provided during Taiwan CDC's routine press conferences held every Tuesday. The public can still obtain relevant epidemic prevention information through different channels, such as the Taiwan CDC website, 1922 Disease Prevention Expert Facebook page, Disease Prevention Line account, Social Distancing App, and 1922 hotline.
