Getting fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can reduce the risk of severe disease and help achieve herd immunity

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that although the domestic epidemic situation remains stable, more domestic cases of the Omicron variants, BA.4 and BA.5, have been reported. With the gradual easing of border measures, the risk of community-acquired infections is increasing. The CECC urged people 6 months and older who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 to complete all recommended doses as soon as possible. The CECC has expanded eligibility for a second booster shot to include adults 50 years and older, residents of medical care institutions, and people who have a low immunity or are immunocompromised. Elderly people 65 years of age and older are urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible to gain protection as they are at high risk of developing severe illness after infection. In addition, medical personnel, airport/port workers, home quarantine workers, and airline crew members can also get vaccinated after assessing their own risk of infection and willingness to receive vaccination.
