font:

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announces the Definition and Principles for Handling Reinfection in Confirmed Cases as follows:

1. For a confirmed COVID-19 case released from isolation, no additional SARS-CoV-2 testing is required within 3 months from the day of the onset of symptoms or the day of the positive test unless there is a special circumstance, such as worsening of symptoms. However, if symptoms worsen within 1 to 3 months from the day of the onset of symptoms or the day of the positive test, and the result from a RT-PCR test is positive with a Ct value <27 for SARS-CoV-2 or the result from a rapid antigen/nucleic acid test is positive:

(1) The doctor may report the case in line with the procedure for confirmed COVID-19 cases and treat the patient accordingly.

(2) The respective regional center of the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare will follow up to determine whether the case is a new confirmed case and implement relevant epidemic prevention measures accordingly.

2. For a confirmed case released from isolation who produces a positive RT-PCR test with a Ct value < 30 or a positive rapid antigen/nucleic acid test for SARS-CoV-2 at least 3 months after the onset of symptoms or the day of the positive test:

(1) If the case is confirmed to be a reinfection by the doctor, the case should be reported as such.

(2) Corresponding and relevant epidemic prevention measures and medical treatment should be put in place in accordance with the principle for handling confirmed cases.
