On June 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the Ministry of Health and Welfare held an expert meeting in the morning and issued its recommendations listed below.

  1. The ACIP recommends that children aged six months to five years should receive a 2-dose primary series of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to reduce the risk of developing severe illness and death after infection. An interval of at least four to eight weeks between the first and second dose is recommended.
  2. A booster dose is recommended for children aged 5-11 completing the primary series vaccination five months (150 days) after their second shot.
  3. Airport/port workers, home quarantine workers, airline crew members, and workers in care institutions and the social welfare system are recommended to receive a second booster shot at least five months after their first booster and after assessing their risk of infection as well as willingness.
  4. he ACIP recommends the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine for use in individuals aged 18 and older as a primary series, an additional dose, and a first and second booster shot. This vaccine can be used interchangeably with other COVID-19 vaccine products.
