To reduce the risk of developing moderate or severe symptoms following COVID-19 infection, eligible individuals can get second booster shot five months after their first booster shot beginning May 16

On May 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) pointed out that the it is recommended that the following categories of people can get a second booster dose five months after the first booster shot, effective from May 16, to reduce the risk of developing moderate or severe symptoms following COVID-19 infection:

1. People aged 65 and older;

2. Residents of long-term care facilities;

3. Individuals aged 18 or above who are immunocompromised or have a weakened immune system and in a stable condition (those who are recommended to get an additional shot).

Individuals in the abovementioned categories can receive half a dose of Moderna, a full dose of Pfizer-BioNTech, or a full dose of a Medigen or Novavax as the second booster shot, regardless of the brand of their first booster.
