In response to influx of arrivals around Lunar New Year and increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases, CECC increases dedicated wards and adjusted medical response strategies
The Central Epidemic Command Center announced that in consideration of the influx of arrivals during the Spring Festival and the recent increase in confirmed imported cases, it has adjusted medical response strategies in order to provide guidance for the response of domestic medical institutions and preserve the medical capacity. Related changes are as follows:
1. Only patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 can be admitted to dedicated wards. Patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and other notifiable airborne infectious diseases should be admitted to negative pressure isolation wards for treatment.
2. Responding hospitals in Taipei city, New Taipei City, Keelung City and Taoyuan City will vacate 20% of their general acute beds and designate them as dedicated wards (including negative pressure isolation beds)within three days.
3. Emergency hospitals in Taipei city, New Taipei City, Keelung City, Yilan County, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County and Miaoli County with more than 500 general acute beds should vacate 5% of their general acute beds and make them available as dedicated wards (including negative pressure isolation beds) within three days.
4. Patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 should be admitted to dedicated wards which are limited to one patient per room.
