On February 23, Taiwan issued Level 1 travel notice : Watch for Iran and Italy. Taiwan advised travelers to take usual precautions, and healthcare workers to postpone their visits for the following reasons:
1. Iran’s new cases increased rapidly recently, and six people died. Additionally, Iran evidently exported cases to Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates and Canada.
2. As of February 22, the Italian government announced that the number of cases reached 52. The number of diagnoses in Lombardy rose rapidly, and incident clusters occurred in medical institutions. Italian authorities thus closed schools and offices in designated areas, suspended public activities as well as public transportation.
