To assist the government’s efforts in fighting COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan’s National Health Research Institute (NHRI) utilized its experience dealing with SARS in 2003 and the 2005 flu to actively develop a generic version of Gilead’s Redemsivir. On 19 February, NHRI successfully completed milligram synthesis of Redemsivir; on 24 February, it completed the gram-level synthesis of the drug.
2. Domestic manufacturers had expressed their desire to participate in the mass production of the generic version of Redemsivir, and hoped to help crushing the pandemic."
