To combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan aimed to detect cases early, and to prevent community transmission and nosocomial infections. The country launched a community monitoring program today. Details were as follows:
1. International travel history within the previous 14 days (including Singapore, Thailand, Japan and other countries) or history of contact with foreigners stricken with fever and/or respiratory symptoms, and with high clinical suspicion for COVID-19 infection.
2. People with fever/respiratory symptoms.
3. Pneumonia cases that for unknown reasons did not improve with antibiotic treatment within 3 days, or clusters of pneumonia cases or healthcare workers having pneumonia. If these test results came back negative, they must all be tested for COVID-19.
