In response to the postponed new school semester, parents of children aged 12 and below were entitled to take family care leave from their respective places of employment.
1. All schools under (inclusive) the high-school or vocational school levels have delayed the start of the new semester by 2 weeks; one of the parents of school children under the age of 12 are eligible to apply for epidemic home care leaves: the aforementioned parents refer to parents, foster parents, guardians and individuals responsible for actual daily care of the children (e.g. grandparents).
For children enrolling in high-schools or junior-high schools and possessing valid disability certificates, one of the parents may apply for epidemic care leaves from February 11 to 24 should the children have needs of care.
2. Although the private or some parts of public kindergartens were not instructed to postpone the start of the new semerster, in light of the current epidemic situation, one of the parents of the students enrolled in the said kindergartens may apply for epidemic care leaves from February 11 to 24 if the following situation applies: the kindergarten has suspended class on its own from February 11 to 24, or the parents have submitted leaves application for their children.
3. One of the employed parents of school children under the age of 12 may apply for epidemic care leaves between February 11 and 24 of 2020, if there are needs to take care of their children by themselves. The employers of said parents are required to approve the leaves application and prohibited from treating it as absenteeism, forcing laborers to submit application as personal leaves or other leaves category. Employers are also prohibited from deducting full attendance bonuses, dismiss employees or issuing detrimental penalties.
