1. In consideration of the growing severity of COVID-19 in Mainland China and the close ties between the two nations, the CECC announced that starting from February 6, citizens returning from abroad and had travel histories to China, Hong Kong and Macau would be placed under home quarantine; those who have applied for and were approved for traveling to Hong Kong and Macau were required to exercise self-health management for 14 days. PRC nationals residing in various cities or provinces in China were suspended from entering Taiwan.
2. The CECC  elevated the epidemic travel recommendation for Hong Kong and Macau to Level 2: Alert, and remind citizens to step-up preventive measures for the following reasons:
(1) There was already sporadic community infection cases of unknown sources in Hong Kong, and there is concern that an asymptomatic infectious chain began to spread throughout the community.
(2) In Macau, employees in the gambling industry were infected. The second wave infection have occurred locally, and considering Macau's close ties with Mainland China, it was determined to be effective immediately.
