Pharmacies and licensed medical distributors were permitted to retail sale of face masks (limited to 3 pieces per person, 8 TWD/piece). Each store belonging to the four major convenience store chains received 500 pieces of surgical masks for sale everyday.
1. In order for members of public to be able to continuously purchase masks during the Spring holiday, the MOHW had released 6 million flat surgical masks from storage on a daily basis from January 28th to January 30th, giving rise to a total of 18 million masks for distribution among the 4 big convenience chain stores: 7-11, Familymart, Hi-Life and OK. To allow more people to be able to purchase the masks, a limit of maximum of 3 masks per person was imposed. The mask cost $8 TWD per sheet.
2. In favor of the public needs in medical attention, the MOHW had also continued to supply 4.7 million masks for hospital internal use or peripheral cosmeceutical and medical equipment distributors (Cosmed, Watsons, Wellcare Health Care Supply, MedFirst, Yes Chain Pharmacy and Healthy Life Pharmacy) for general retail.
3. Pharmacies and retailers with pharmaceutical wholesale were permitted sell medical masks starting from today to February 15th. However, during the retail process, it was necessary that the wholesalers to avoid the public selecting masks. Handing of the supply of masks must solely be carried out the retail personnel whilst looking after the hand hygiene to avoid contamination.
