Wuhan City was raised to a Level 3 (Warning) Travel Notice destination.Premier Tseng-Chang Su and Minister of Health and Welfare Shih-Chung Chen visited Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to inspect border quarantine control measures in response to the epidemic.

1. On January 21st, the CECC announced the first COVID-19 imported case in which the patient entered Taiwan by airplane from Wuhan. Because she had symptoms of a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, the quarantine personnel at airport made an arrangement for her and sent her to the hospital. After inspection, she had confirmed positive test results and was under treatment in a negative pressure isolation room in the hospital.
2. The hospital and local healthcare unit had followed the Severe Pneumonia with Novel Pathogens Reporting Case Handling Process to conduct preventive actions, such as reporting, collection, inspection, isolation, outbreak investigation, and contact tracing of the flight she taken. She would not be released from isolation until she had negative test results after collection and inspection were conducted for two times.
3. For Taiwan's first confirmed case, the Command Center simultaneously reported it to the contact person of World Health Organization via IHR contact person and Chinese government agency.
4. As the cases in Wuhan was on the rise quickly, Chinese infectious disease experts suggested that the public should not visit this place.
5. On January 21, the WHO said that COVID-19 virus may be transmitted between humans.
6. Taiwan had the first imported confirmed case from Wuhan. The CECC announced that the Travel Advisory Level of Wuhan City was raised to Level 3 (Warning) since January 21.
